ABQ Health Partners, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and Lovelace Health System Improve Care for Seniors
Albuquerque, N.M. — ABQ Health Partners, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) and Lovelace Health System are collaborating to improve integration of patient care for seniors.
Starting June 1, 2015, ABQ Health Partners hospitalists, who are physicians that provide care for hospitalized patients, will be responsible for the inpatient hospital care of BCBSNM Medicare Advantage and Lovelace Medicare Plan members (administered by BCBSNM) at all Lovelace hospitals.
“Our Medicare Advantage members will benefit from greater continuity of care and better integration of health services,” said Kurt Shipley, President of BCBSNM. “This collaboration is a great opportunity for looking at best practices and how it can benefit our members.”
This integration of care is part of ABQ Health Partners’ Total Care model. “Total Care is proven to provide higher quality care and increased patient satisfaction, all while reducing costs,” said Aric Coffman, M.D., market president of ABQ Health Partners. “This arrangement helps strengthen all of our abilities to deliver the best care to our patients and members and is very positive news for the seniors in our community.”
“We’re pleased to partner with ABQ Health Partners and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico,” said Ron Stern, president and CEO of Lovelace Health System. “It improves quality of care for patients and improved collaboration with physicians in the community.”
